Municipality of GallipoliGallipoli is an Italian city situated on the western coast of Salento, in Apulia. Since the Classic Age its history has been tied to Greece: the name “Gallipoli” comes from the Greek Καλλίπολις, meaning “beautiful city”.

In the past Gallipoli was one of the most important hubs for the international commerce of wine and olive oil; fishing still has a fundamental role for the local economy, thanks to the natural characteristics of this territory. Besides, in recent times tourism has become a leading sector for Gallipoli, capable of attracting hundreds of thousands of tourists from all over the world.
